Iron Man 2 Wraps On Time

Iron Man 2

Filming for Iron Man 2 is finished, according to Marvel.com, right on time after 71 days of shooting. Now, it’s off to post-production to make effects everything we want.

“Shooting ‘Iron Man 2′ was a fantastic experience and we couldn’t be happier. Although there were many challenges in making this film, having Jon Favreau, Robert Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow and almost the entire crew from the first film back on board, allowed us to hit the ground running as everyone was instantly familiar with each other from day one,” Feige told Marvel.com. “This dynamic allowed us to get done what we needed on a day to day basis and was a big factor in why we finished slightly ahead of schedule.”

As we probably all know by now (but a reminder never hurts), Scarlett Johannson (Black Widow), Micky Rourke (Whiplash) and Sam Rockwell (Justin Hammer) also join the cast. Don Cheadle assumes Terrence Howard’s previous role as Col. James Rhodes. Cheadle tells Entertainment Weekly:

“Terrence and I couldn’t be more different. We address it head-on in the movie in one exchange. We’re not trying to fool people.”

Of course, Jon Favreau and the will be at Comic Con too, and it’s a sure bet that he’ll be bringing some extra goodness to show off the upcoming epic. Iron Man 2 will be released on May 7, 2010, and I’ll be waiting for the merch to start rolling out.

CapCom, makers of some of the most played games on the planet, has been updating their blog this week with a bevy of swag that they’ll be giving away and selling at their Comic Con booth.

First, you may have already seen the zombie transformation t-shirt, being given away to support CapCom’s Comic Con reveal of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. This shirt is as much a blessing as it is a curse, as there are lots of SDCC attendees whom you’d prefer to keep their shirt on.

Other items being given away include:

  • Lost Planet plushies – Be sure to also stop by CapCom’s blog to give this guy a name.
  • Bring your PSP in, and receive 8 free quests for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. T-shirts will also be available.
  • Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth branded swag, including gift tins, hankies and Blue Badger DS straps.
  • Tatsunoko VS Capcom Ultimate All-Stars fighter towels
  • Spyborgs comics
  • Dark Void photo figurines

The CapCom Store will also be featuring the following items for sale:

  • Street Fighter IV Mad Catz Fight Stick Tournament Edition – exclusive design just for Comic-Con
  • Street Fighter IV Mad Catz Fight Pad – exclusive design just for Comic-Con
  • Devil May Cry 4 Nero’s Red Queen Sword – They’ll 10 to sell: 5 with the standard blade and 5 with a weathered blade. The weathered blade is exclusive to Comic-Con.
  • Dark Void “Will” statue – this incredibly detailed statue featuring Will from our upcoming Dark Void game, lights up with integrated lighting effects with the flick of a switch (batteries not included). He also comes in a mini version without the glowing goodness
  • SF20: The Art Of Street Fighter – what would Comic-Con be if we didn’t offer a new art book. Udon does us proud once again with amazing new hardcover. This oversized 320 page art book showcases artwork from the original Street Fighter game up through Street FighterIV and all vs. crossovers. Includes artwork from legendary artists Akiman, CRMK Kinu Nishimura, Shinkiro, Ikeno, Edayan and more!

So, if you’re a CapCom fan, you’ve gotta get to Hall G, booth # 5113 early to make sure you get as much of the loot as you possibly can. Be sure to check out their schedule of panels and events too.

Conan on the Darth Vader Toaster

More Star Wars swag info, which is natural, since Comic Con is only a week away. This time, Conan O’Brien takes a stab at the Darth Vader Toaster.

darth_vader_toaster

Like the previously shown Battlestar Galactica Toaster, the Vader Toaster burns an image of the Dark Lord into your bread. Although these are neat novelty items, I gotta be honest: The photos make it seem like you’ll get a mostly untoasted piece of bread with a burnt section in the middle. But it’s still Vader, and I’d be proud to whip out my Tuna on Sith sandwich in the lunch room any day. The toaster is $54.99 at the Star Wars Shop.

Star Wars Shop: Online Comic-Con Store is Now Open

monkey_island

StarWarsShop.com sends word that their Comic-Con Store is now open. My favorite item is the Secret of Monkey Island  Statue ($89.99, ships September 10) shown above, but I might be biased because a good friend of mine from high school worked on Tales of Monkey Island, just released from TellTale.

There are also a number of t-shirts and hoodies by Mark Ecko and the Death Star Cookie Jar ($49.99, ships September 2009), which is not to be confused with a small moon.

Finally, they’re giving away bonus gifts with purchase:

FREE WITH PURCHASE PROMOTION: Between now and August 3, StarWarsShop will be giving away the exclusive “Impossible Shot” Death Star t-shirt with purchases over $75, and if you spend over $120, you’ll also receive the rare McQuarrie-designed Artoo and Threepio Hasbro 2-pack in addition to the t-shirt! Make StarWarsShop your first stop before facing those long lines at Comic-Con – because there’s no line, online!
