Proving that some people just don’t get it, James Blunt won’t allow Weird Al Yankovic to release his parody of “You’re Beautiful,” on his upcoming compilation album. Blunt’s manager told Yankovic, “Thanks for your email, but both James and I will never approve this parody to be released on any label.” According to Al’s Twitter Feed, “Guess you’ll still just have to continue downloading ‘You’re Pitiful’ for FREE… http://tinyurl.com/28z7et“
Check in with Warner Brothers
Warner Brothers is setting Comic Con hotel guests up with custom room keys, featuring images from Chuck, Smallville, Fringe, Supernatural or the motion comic Superman: Red Son. But you don’t have to be staying in San Diego to get free episodes of these series from iTunes. Just visit the addresses listed on the cards:
- Chuck: http://www.itunes.com/tv/chuck
- Smallville: http://www.itunes.com/tv/superman
- Fringe: http://www.itunes.com/tv/fringe
- Supernatural: http://www.itunes.com/tv/supernatural
- Superman (will be released July 24): http://www.itunes.com/tv/superman
Note that itunes must be installed to download these episodes. It looks like Smallville isn’t actually available for free yet, but I’d keep trying. Check out the LA Times article for a look at all of the keys.
Stan Lee to Appear in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
The legendary Stan Lee has put in cameos in most of Marvel’s movies, but now he’s joining the voice cast of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Stan’s narrated a couple of games from the Spider-Man series, but this will be the first time he’s actually had an in-game part. According to Lee:
“I am thrilled to be making my first onscreen videogame cameo in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. It’s such a kick to see characters that I’ve helped create come to life in the game and now I’m a part of the Marvel videogame universe!”
I can’t wait to see Lee interact with Super Heroes doing their thing in his humble yet bombastic way. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 ships on September 15 for Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, DS and PSP.

Lucasfilm Pavillion Comes to Life at Comic Con
The Official Star Wars Blog reports that you can watch construction of Lucasfilm’s Comic Con 2009 Pavillion on Flickr. The Pavillion will incorporate new imagery from season two of the Clone Wars series, featuring a gang of new and classic bounty hunters.
It’s great to know that we’ll be seeing Bossk again. Also, check out Entertainment Weekly for details on two of the new bounty hunters that will be introduced.
Sam Raimi to Direct World of Warcraft Movie
Sam Raimi has signed on to direct a live-action adaptation of World of Warcraft. There’s a lot of talk out of the blogs about the wisdom of this teaming. Pajiba compares this announcement to shit fajitas: fajitas (Sam Raimi movies) are awesome, but they’re, you know, full of shit (i.e. video game movies traditionally suck). MTV, on the other hand, seems to fear an Uwe Boll-quality outing.
Personally, I think that the movie will have legs. With 11+ million subscribers after almost 5 years, a strong opening weekend is virtually guaranteed, and Sam Raimi is one of the few directors out there who could manage the game’s blend of camp and drama. Raimi will enter pre-production on the film while shooting Spider-Man 4, which means we can probably expect a 2011 or later release date.
