The new animated Young Justice series premieres on Cartoon Network on November 26 at 7 PM Eastern with a one hour episode. Check out the six minute preview at MTV’s Splash Page, where you can see the classic teams of Batman and Robin, Green Arrow and Speedy, and Flash and Kid Flash in action. The preview looks more like the various Bruce Tim and Paul Dini DC animated series than Teen Titans, but I’m just happy to see DC super teams on the screen again.

While we’re all waiting for Iron Man 2, director Jon Favreau is already talking Iron Man 3 with Digital Spy.

He said: “There’s an Iron Man 3. Here’s how I know. When they make the option deals, they include Iron Man 3. So I know they’re planning on 3. Whether that would be before or after Avengers, they’ve announced that Avengers is next but they pushed back The Avengers once, which I thought was encouraging.”

Shouldn’t come as a surprise, since almost every super hero franchise that makes it to the first sequel goes on to see a third. Let’s just hope that quality goes the distance, unlike X-Men.

During today’s Smallville panel at Comic Con, Geoff Johns was announced to be writing another episode of the long-running series, this time featuring comics’ original super hero team, the Justice Society of America. When the Smallville producers approached Johns to pen another episode after writing last season’s Legion of Super-Heroes appearance, he agreed… but only if he could incorporate another DC property that had been on the screen before.

It will be interesting to see how the JSA appearance works. In Smallville, we generally accept that super heroes are new to the world, while the JSA’s roots stretch back to the dawn of World War II. Did the group operate in secret? Are they from a parallel Earth?

Who will make up this JSA? Johns only said, “I can not to tell you that yet. But I can tell you there might be a character or two that you won’t expect.” My picks are:

Hawkman: One of the most iconic members of the JSA, who would provide further inspiration for Clark to finally fly.

Flash: Actually, this is a maybe, since they already have a recurring speedster in Kyle Gallner’s Impulse. But then again, the JSA is a generational story, so this might fit.

Sandman: The original, gas-mask and green suit. A naturally noir character that would provide that 1940′s atmosphere.

Stargirl: A fan favorite, a Johns favorite, and one of my favorites. I’d love to see her in live-action.

Details on the upcoming Jonah Hex film emerged from Comic Con, including the first look at the movie poster shown above. Described as “spaghetti western meets zombie thriller,” the film will star Josh Brolin and Meghan Fox. Reports say that the movie doesn’t explore the origin of Hex’s trademark scar, but the story does play with it throughout, as the cowboy threatens to demonstrate on another cowboy just how he got it.

Fox plays a major part in the film, acting as love interest and cheesecake, as she is seen in an old west style corset and getting nekkid with Jonah in another scene. Meanwhile, the starlet was all about the Con, amping up her geek cred, discussing her love of comic stars like Fathom, Danger Girl and Witchblade, while looking for Gen-13 swag. I can’t help but get the sense that Meg’s doing a little job hunting. God knows that I’ve passed my resume around at cons a time or two.

Because Lost is almost as much about the Internet as it is about the TV show, ABC announced Lost University, a new site for those who just can’t get enough of the castaways.

A world of knowledge awaits you here at LOST University! As a student at LOST University, you will have the opportunity to dig deeper into the themes and mysteries of LOST, while at the same time exploring fascinating topics and subjects that relate to the world you live in.

Enrollment for the first semester of LOST University will be open to all students beginning September 22nd, 2009. At that time, you will take a placement exam and be given a Student ID, as well as be able to watch your LOST University introductory class, LOST 101. Semester 1 begins on December 8, 2009, at which point you will be able to choose and enroll in all of your classes, as you build credits toward Semester 2 and graduation. In the meantime, feel free to browse the online course catalog and get a head start with some of your recommended reading.

The site will offer metatextual information about the themes going on in the show’s background. A look through the course catalog shows the following:

HIS 101 Ancient Writing on the Wall: This course will glance into both the culture and history of ancient Egyptian communication through hieroglyphics. The significance of these writings, from their inception to their current state, will be explored over two sessions as we decipher this once forgotten language of the gods.

PHI 101 I’m Lost, Therefore I Am: It’s no secret that LOST incorporates philosophical themes and references into the show. Delve deeper into who these referenced philosophers really are, and how various philosophical viewpoints and theories relate to the characters and storylines of LOST.

PHY 101: Introductory Physics of Time Travel: Go beyond the Time Travel explored on LOST and examine some basic physics concepts ranging from the perception of time itself to the realities of traveling through spacetime. Visiting professors active in the field of theoretical physics will discuss these topics over two sessions.

Warner Brothers is setting Comic Con hotel guests up with custom room keys, featuring images from Chuck, Smallville, Fringe, Supernatural or the motion comic Superman: Red Son. But you don’t have to be staying in San Diego to get free episodes of these series from iTunes. Just visit the addresses listed on the cards:

Chuck: http://www.itunes.com/tv/chuck

Smallville: http://www.itunes.com/tv/superman

Fringe: http://www.itunes.com/tv/fringe

Supernatural: http://www.itunes.com/tv/supernatural

Superman (will be released July 24): http://www.itunes.com/tv/superman

Note that itunes must be installed to download these episodes. It looks like Smallville isn’t actually available for free yet, but I’d keep trying. Check out the LA Times article for a look at all of the keys.
