Marvel Parties with Retailers for 70th Anniversary

Marvel is celebrating 70 years in the biz with creators and retailers across the country. According to Marvel:

On August 11, 2009, comic fans all over will celebrate Marvel’s 70th Anniversary at their local comic shops and we’ve got the complete list of participating retailers.

All retailer parties begin at 9 p.m. local time. As a special thank you to retailers, Marvel is sending a limited edition CAPTAIN AMERICA: REBORN #2 70TH ANNIVERSARY FRAME VARIANT to all participating stores!

Plus, at select Barnes & Noble STORES across the country, you can meet Marvel’s most popular creators, sit in on Q&A sessions and get your favorite comics autographed. All events begin at 7 p.m. local time. As a special added bonus, all participating Barnes and Noble locations will feature guest appearances by major Marvel Characters!

Unfortunately, it looks like my home state of Iowa is getting snubbed. I’m sure the guys at Mayhem in Ames or Daydreams in Iowa City would be thrilled to be part of it. And yet, they’re gonna be at Space Cat here in San Jose, which is a fairly ghetto cross between a comic shop and a pawn shop.
