Filming for Iron Man 2 is finished, according to Marvel.com, right on time after 71 days of shooting. Now, it’s off to post-production to make effects everything we want.
“Shooting ‘Iron Man 2′ was a fantastic experience and we couldn’t be happier. Although there were many challenges in making this film, having Jon Favreau, Robert Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow and almost the entire crew from the first film back on board, allowed us to hit the ground running as everyone was instantly familiar with each other from day one,” Feige told Marvel.com. “This dynamic allowed us to get done what we needed on a day to day basis and was a big factor in why we finished slightly ahead of schedule.”
As we probably all know by now (but a reminder never hurts), Scarlett Johannson (Black Widow), Micky Rourke (Whiplash) and Sam Rockwell (Justin Hammer) also join the cast. Don Cheadle assumes Terrence Howard’s previous role as Col. James Rhodes. Cheadle tells Entertainment Weekly:
“Terrence and I couldn’t be more different. We address it head-on in the movie in one exchange. We’re not trying to fool people.”
Of course, Jon Favreau and the will be at Comic Con too, and it’s a sure bet that he’ll be bringing some extra goodness to show off the upcoming epic. Iron Man 2 will be released on May 7, 2010, and I’ll be waiting for the merch to start rolling out.
