DC Comics and USAToday announced that starting July 8, Superman will begin appearing in USAToday. The Superman strips will be excerpts from DC’s upcoming Wednesday Comics, a series which will take super heroes back to the nostalgic days of serials and newsprint. Details from DC’s web site:
Starting Wednesday July 8, when the first issue of WEDNESDAY COMICS hits stands, USA TODAY will be syndicating writer John Arcudi and artist Lee Bermejo’s SUPERMAN strip every week over the course of the 12-week series. The first strip will appear in print on July 8, and subsequent strips will appear each Wednesday on USATODAY.COM, day-and-date with the respective issue. Additionally, each online preview will be promoted weekly in USA TODAY’s print edition.
There’s also a ton of talent attached, including Neil Gaman and the Kubert brothers drawing from every corner of the DC Universe. Gaiman will be writing Metamorpho, which is an interesting choice since he already resurrected the single Metamorpho spinoff character, Element Girl, in the classic Sandman comic (and then promptly killed her off).
